Klára Dobrev, an MEP of the Democratic Coalition (DK), has won the first round of the opposition’s primary election, the official website elovalasztas2021.hu said on Friday.
The opposition DK, Jobbik, LMP, Momentum, Socialist and Párbeszéd parties held the first round of their primary between September 18 and 28, to choose the joint prime ministerial candidate for the spring general election.
The first round drew 633,811 voters, and ended with Dobrev garnering 34.76 percent of the vote (214,319 votes). Budapest Mayor Gergely Karácsony, supported by the Socialists, Párbeszéd and LMP, came second with 27.31 percent (168,396 votes), followed by Péter Márki-Zay, a candidate of Mindenki Magyarorszaga Movement with 20.02 percent (123,453 votes).
According to the primary rules, a second round is to be held if none of the candidates gets at least 50 percent of the votes among the top three candidates (with at least 15 percent of the vote in the first round to be eligible), elovalasztas2021.hu said.
Jobbik’s Péter Jakab (14.1 percent, 86,909 votes) and Momentum’s András Fekete-Győr (3.4 percent, 20,944 votes) have failed to qualify for the second round.
Meanwhile, PM Orbán said in Kossuth Rádió today morning that the opposition’s claim that they would align utility prices to the world market in effect means scrapping the government’s measures to cut utility prices. “The problem with Hungarian politics is that we keep arguing about whether the past should return,
rather than looking into the future,”
Orbán said. The well-known figures of the Gyurcsány-Bajnai governments, which were in power between 2004-2010, are trying to make a comeback, he said. “We would be back to where we were before 2010 … if they return, so will high prices,” he said.

Any with 2 remainig functional braincells left do not want Klara Dobrev or anyone associated with her and her husband because of the mess they made in Hungary last time they were in power. GO AWAY KLARA you are a cancer and so are your globalist ideas.
The Gyurcsány-Dobrev-Apró gang hates Hungarians. Their incredible wealth is the result of Dobrev’s grandfather, Apró ordering the mass execution of Hungarian patriots on Kossuth square. The Kossuth square communist terror bloody Thursday occurred on October 25, 1956. The exact number of innocent victims will probably never be known but it is estimated that over one thousand, including men, women and children were murdered under Apró’s direction. The Gyurcsány-Dobrev-Apró gang didn’t change and the atrocities continued during October, 2006 under Dobrev’s husband, Gyurcsány’s rain of terror. No sane Hungarian would ever vote for these Hungarian haters.
Once a politician goes to EU and returns to their country they ALWAYS put EU ahead of the country.
I have seen that countless times. And there is no reason why Dobrev will be any different.
She is pushing for Hungary to join the Euro. That would be a complete disaster for the Hungarian economy!
Look at what happened in Greece! The Euro is ok for Germany and Netherlands. Their economies are strong and highly developed.
If she thinks adopting the Euro is good for Hungsry she is an imbecile! Its more likely the EU people have ordered her to push this policy
Not totally Dismissing Political and “other” backgrounds of History – that is Ferenc Gyurcsany and Klara Dobrev – to think that either of these (2) two individuals are the FUTURE of Hungary – as a returned to office – Failed Prime Minister of Hungary – or his Wife – Klara Dobrev – being elected to serve as a Prime Minister – is literally Suicidal for Hungary.
Previously I have used this forum to express that if the Big 6 – want the up-coming National Elections May 2022 – to be a Contest – that has a – Robust Political Positive Atmosphere in its Purpose and Functionality – that witnesses – the winner – savours the “fruits of victory” and that in Victory – they Benefit – to the – BETTERMEANT – All Hungarians, – from “all stations in life” – the Candidate – that is Democratically elected to represent the Opposition – in its fight to bring about a change of Government – MUST be New Blood – Not old school – Nor old guard.
Ferenc Gyurcsany and Klara Dobrev – time has passed them by and “need” for the advancement of Politics in Hungary and the Future of Hungary – retired.
The Candidate – must be – a new blood visionary – looking at Europe and the Global World – that has the ABILITY – to blend – see through and beyond into the Future – the Hungary of the Future – presently in the 21st century and beyond.
This new blood CANDIDATE – must retain core elements of the Culture and Traditions of Hungary – never CONSIDERING – to flaunter – play around with – nor abuse – our Soverinty – in Political Arguements or Platforms – in there efforts – to gain the office – as the Democratically elected – by the Citizens of Hungary – the Office of – Prime Minister.
Visionary – the changed dynamics the World has seen – Hungary has seen and endured – since February 2020 – that Continue and will for years to come.
Gyurscany and Dobrev – from another time and place – and not for the Hungary that exists in 2021 – and that will be needed going Forward – and into the Future.
Worldly – Visionary – and Loyal to History, Traditions and Soverinty – young – new age – that carries no Luggage – but is able to clearly- without “veiling” past matters of controversy – SELL – to Hungary – unencumbered – the FUTURE.
Find this Candidate – thats the CHALLENGE – to the Big 6 – for if they do not – the Victors – will be returned to office with again a Majority – the present Government in Power – led by Prime Minister – Victor Orban.
